Its 8 cm stainless steel blade offers excellent sharpness and exceptional strength. The beechwood handle provides a comfortable grip, making the knife safer to use. The Virobloc safety system, invented by Opinel, allows you to lock the blade in the open or closed position.

MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL

The stainless steel used in Opinel blades is optimized to ensure high corrosion resistance and mechanical performance.

The blade provides excellent sharpness and high abrasion resistance, allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials like ceramic before needing sharpening. Stainless steel requires no special maintenance under normal conditions of use, unlike carbon steel. However, it may have limitations when exposed to aggressive environments (acid, saltwater, detergent, etc.) for extended periods.

HANDLE

Beechwood is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French forests, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. With a consistent appearance, its light color ranges from yellow to pink. It is characterized by numerous small dark lines. The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.

SAFETY RING

Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is featured on all folding knives starting from No. 06. Made of stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (user safety), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (transport safety).
