The pruning knife is an essential tool for gardeners. It is used for harvesting, pruning small branches, and picking flowers or fruits with its curved blade.

Its blade is 10 cm long and its handle is comfortable, and will remain so even after long hours of work. The pruning knife features the Virobloc® safety system created by Opinel: it allows the blade to be locked when it is open only.

Its 10 cm stainless steel blade offers excellent sharpness and exceptional durability. The beechwood handle provides a comfortable grip, making the knife safer to use. The Virobloc safety system, invented by Opinel, allows the blade to be locked in the open or closed position.

MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL

The stainless steel used in Opinel blades is optimized to ensure both high corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical performance.

The blade provides excellent sharpness and high abrasion resistance, allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials such as ceramic before needing sharpening. Stainless steel requires no special maintenance under normal conditions of use, unlike carbon steel. However, it may have limitations when in prolonged contact with aggressive environments (acid, saltwater, cleaning agents, etc.).

HANDLE

Beechwood is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French forests, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. With a consistent appearance, its light color ranges from yellow to pink, with many small dark lines. The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.

SAFETY RING

Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is featured on all folding knives from N°06 onwards. Made of stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety during use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety during transport).
