Its 10 cm stainless steel blade offers an excellent cutting edge and exceptional strength. The beechwood handle makes it easy to grip, making the knife safer to use. The Virobloc safety system, invented by Opinel, allows the blade to be locked in the open or closed position.

Highly versatile due to its size, it is essential for small DIY projects, hunting, agricultural work, and creative hobbies like wood carving...

MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL

The stainless steel used in Opinel blades is optimized to ensure both high corrosion resistance and superior mechanical performance.

The blade provides an excellent cutting edge and high abrasion resistance, allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials such as ceramics before needing sharpening. Stainless steel requires no special maintenance under normal conditions of use, unlike carbon steel. However, it may have limitations when exposed to aggressive environments for an extended period (acid, saltwater, detergent, etc.).

HANDLE

Beechwood is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French forests, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. With a uniform appearance, its light color ranges from yellow to pink. It is recognizable by the presence of numerous small dark lines. The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.

SAFETY RING

Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is included in all folding knives from N°06 onwards. Made of stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety during use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety during transport).
